Introduction
Not everyone learns in the same way. While our standard RYA courses are limited to small groups, a private course offers the ultimate flexibility, allowing you to learn at your own pace, focus on your own goals, and enjoy an unforgettable sailing experience in the Whitsundays.
Who is a private course for?
- Couples
- Families
- Friends
- Yacht owners wanting tuition aboard their own vessel
- Anyone who prefers one-on-one instruction
- Sailors preparing for an extended cruising adventure
Learn at your own pace
Explain that there is no pressure to keep up with a group or wait for others. Every day can be tailored to the student’s experience and objectives while still meeting the RYA syllabus.
Train on your own yacht
Many people own a yacht but don’t feel completely confident sailing it.
Instead of travelling to a training yacht, an instructor can facilitate an RYA course aboard their own vessel, helping them become familiar with the systems, handling characteristics, and equipment they’ll actually use after the course.
Flexible itinerary
Private courses provide flexibility in scheduling and can often be adapted around weather, experience levels, and personal objectives, while still delivering the practical training required for the chosen RYA course.
More than a qualification
A private RYA course combines internationally recognised training with the experience of exploring one of the world’s most spectacular cruising destinations. Students don’t just gain qualifications—they build confidence and create lasting memories on the water.
Recently, we welcomed a couple for 5 days of private tuition aboard their own catamaran. The course was tailored specifically to their cruising plans, allowing them to build confidence on the yacht they know best while progressing through the RYA Syllabus.
Whether you’re looking to learn as a couple, train with family or friends, or gain confidence on your own yacht, a private RYA course offers a personalised pathway to becoming a safer and more capable sailor.
